What do Christian Science Churches do for the Community?

The members of a Christian Science church do continuous, active work to uphold spiritual truth in their communities. The prayers of members, as well as the Lesson-Sermon and the spiritual truths contained in the hymns and solos that are part of our church services, are blessings for our communities statewide.

Every Christian Science church (in Indiana as well as worldwide) provides

a Reading Room which is open to the public as a quiet place to pray or study, or to purchase the Bible or literature on Christian Science. In addition to the other resources available, you'll find the Christian Science Monitor, a newspaper that brings the issues of the day to light so we can all pray in our own way to meet the world's needs.

A Christian Science church gives public lectures on subjects of interest to community members. Each worldwide church presents at least one lecture per year.

In many communities, Christian Science churches arrange for the Weekly Bible Lesson or Christian Science Sentinel Radio Edition programs to be broadcast. The Radio Edition of the Christian Science Sentinel is broadcast each Sunday morning at 6 AM on WIBC 93.1 FM and 8 AM on WXNT AM 1430. The spiritual truths contained in these broadcasts help anyone seeking to understand more about life and God.
